Broadcom Foundation is partnering with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote after school Code Clubs where children in grades 5-8 have optimal project-based learning time to develop the coding skills they need to become fully digitally literate.
At the regional level, Broadcom Foundation sponsors Broadcom Coding with Commitment® at 50 regional science and engineering fairs, in which a participating student can receive recognition for a project and a Raspberry Pi kit for a project in any category that combines STEM Knowledge and Computation/Coding in the project’s research, design, or development and which expresses a passion for helping or improving one’s community.
The award takes into consideration access (or lack thereof) to STEM and computing tools to fairly weigh and consider innovative projects by under-resourced and underrepresented students whose access to STEM materials may be more limited than to other competitors.
“Our overreaching goal is for students in Arizona to see STEM everywhere. The new Broadcom Coding with Commitment® recognition rewards young people for being creators at a basic level and will honor students' passion to solve problems in their communities. That thinking is really beautiful.”
