Broadcom Foundation Celebrates Fifteen Years!

Broadcom Foundation, a leading nonprofit that advocates equitable access to STEM education and digital literacy for all, is celebrating fifteen years of empowering thousands of young people to become creative STEM problem solvers who think critically, communicate, collaborate, and are prepared to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in the next generation.

Founded in 2009, Broadcom Foundation opens STEM pathways and promotes digital literacy for girls, under-resourced, and underrepresented youth in urban, rural, and tribal communities with an overarching goal to increase the number of engineers who enter the modern workforce.

“The mission of the foundation has evolved over its first fifteen years, and today digital literacy is its philanthropic niche within the STEM education ecosystem,” says Paula Golden, president of Broadcom Foundation. “The foundation plays an important leadership role in the US and around the world as a vigorous advocate for computational thinking and basic coding as a critical 21st century+ skill necessary for success in all STEM careers, whether a student enters the workforce out of high school, community college, or university.”

By funding science fairs and coding programs near where Broadcom Inc. employees live and work, the foundation has deepened its relationship with local communities through strategic collaborations with STEM stakeholders and educators who can take full advantage of Broadcom volunteers.

Broadcom Foundation is deeply grateful to its extraordinary board and staff, and to dedicated Broadcom Inc. employees and partners for their unfailing commitment to increasing STEM opportunities and promoting digital literacy for all young people. In their honor, the foundation has produced a series of videos titled “Fifteen Years in 5 Chapters” to salute everyone who has made its first fifteen years of accomplishments possible.
