Broadcom’s Family Day Carnival: Thousands on Hand for Fun and Games

As the summer months come to an end and families start getting ready to send the kiddos back to school, Broadcom brought out the BBQs, face painters and carnival games to give the families of our employees one last hurrah.

Family with kids at Irvine Family Day 2013We call it Family Day – and this year’s events, which are held in locations around the world where employees live and work, were some our biggest yet.

Broadcom served some 7,000 ice cream treats, grilled 3,500 burgers, spun 3,000 bags of cotton candy, sprinkled sugar on 3,000 churros and whipped up more than 250 pounds of mac and cheese. For the kids (and kids-at-heart), there were face painters, balloon artists, carnival games, slides , rides, video game trucks and a visit from local firefighters. Some locations featured rock-climbing activities, beach outings, bowling parties and a zoo visit.

This year, at the main Irvine campus, there was even a Battle of the Bands, with CEO Scott McGregor serving as the judge.

Multi-talented participants included “Power Movement,” featuring Benefits Analyst Alecia Fish, “The Eliminators,” featuring PC Board Designer Frank Hughes, and “Chief,” featuring the son of Associate Technical Director in the Mixed Signal Group Greg Unruh.
